Title: Public LAN, Private VLAN, SNAT
Post by: timeshell on February 07, 2014, 09:09:59 AM
DSR-250N Hardware Version A2 Firmware 1.08B44_WW

Greetings.  I need help regarding what should really be a fairly simple configuration.  I have purchased the DSR-250N because of its multi-routed VLAN capabilities.

I have a WAN connection using DSL.
I have a public /29 subnet on my default LAN.
I have a private /24 subnet on my VLAN2.

Below is how I'm trying to route traffic.

LAN -> Routed (NO NAT) -> WAN
VLAN2 -> Routed (NAT) -> WAN
LAN -> Routed (NO NAT) -> VLAN2
VLAN2 -> Routed (NO NAT) -> LAN

I have the Routing Mode configured to Classical Routing so that no NAT is performed by default.
I have a SNAT firewall configured for VLAN2 to hide behind the WAN IF IP.

The main problem is, the VLAN2 traffic isn't getting working outbound to WAN in this configuration.  If I set Routing Mode to NAT, all the traffic goes out, but my LAN is now also NAT'd and doesn't route correctly.

This is the configuration I previously used in OpenWRT on my 14 year old Linksys WRT54GS which has worked for years.  Unfortunately, that router died a week ago.  Seeing how the DSR-250N was advertised to do multi-VLAN routing and is a business router, I assumed it shouldn't have any issues doing a simple configuration like this.

Please help.

Is there any information in the User Manual. I have no experience with this unit yet however I would recommend that you phone contact D-Link support and they should be able to help you configure it to work correctly for you.
