Title: getting wireless printing to work
Post by: thebaz67 on February 08, 2014, 01:58:37 PM
OK I am having difficulty getting my brother HL-4070CDW to print.

I have setup the SSID on the printer. It gets an IP address via dhcp. I can connect to that IP address and see the Brother control panel so the printer is on the network, but it will not print.

I checked the WLAN partition setting and it is off. I have also tried turning off the firewall to no avail. I also set the USB port to not sharepoint just in case that was the issue (this did not help).

Is there anyway to get this to work properly.

If the printer is setting an IP address and is connected to the WiFi on the router, then I would presume the drivers on the PCs need to be looked at to ensure they are set up correctly and pointed to the correct connection.

You might un-install the printer drivers and then re-install them again and let any wizards walk you thru setting it up.

You'll need to refer to the printers support site for help on ensuring the printer and connected PCs are set up right.

Hardware version A. Firmware version 1.13NA

I am in the USA.

Printer and the PC are connected wirelessly and the printer will work if connected with a USB cable but will not work via the wireless connection.

thanks

If the USB connection is working then I presume the driver and printer are ok. You need to ensure the driver is pointed to the WiFi connection however. You'll need to refer to the Mfr support informatoin on the printers driver and settings for printing on WiFi.

I reinstalled the printer software and attempted the setup a second time... pointing to the printer that the software "saw" on the network.  It saw the printer, recognized the model of printer, selected the correct IP address and installed the drivers yet still no printing.

I also tried to print from my android phone using the brother supplied printing software.

The software finds the brother printer on the network via IP address and selects the correct model HL-4070CDW but when I attempt to print I get a cannot connect error.

It states to make sure the printer is on the same SSID which it is, it also states to make sure the printer is on, which it is, and it asks to check and make certain the WiFi access point/router's "Privacy Separator" option is Disabled which I have.

Still no printing.

Is Enable Multi-cast Streaming ON? Try it with that disabled...

Multi-cast Streaming was enabled and with it off it still does not work

I think I am going to have to move the printer and attempt hardwired

IT would be a good test to see if the LAN wired connection works...

Keep us posted...
