Title: Getting started with DNS-320L

Hi,

I just purchased this NAS, but I didn't put any HDD in it (for the moment), I'm trying to use the USB port to share an external HDD but I can't seem to find the option to share it.

could anyone help me about this?

I don't usually have anything in the usb port, but whenever I plug in an external hdd, it is shared by default as USBDisk1_1. This can be seen in Account Management->Network Shares.

I can confirm your answer, I tried using a 4GB (Fat32) USB flash drive, and it got properly detected.

I guess the NAS won't detect NTFS or exFAT Filesystems properly.

The original drive I'm trying to get to work is a 3TB (exFAT) one.
But the NAS won't detect a 1TB (NTFS) either.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Does anyone have a workaround for it?

According to the manual, NTFS and FAT32 is supported (page 3). exFAT is definitely not supported. I can also tell you, from my own experience, that ext3 and ext4 also works.

Do you see the NTFS drive under USB devices in the System Management menu? Maybe try formatting your USB flash drive to NTFS, to see if NTFS is the problem.

On a side note, you can use a USB-hub, if you want to connect more than one device at a time.

I guess the only way to go is to use NTFS, sadly I the only USB hub I have is a cheap one, and if I connect both drives, one will fail to mount. Connecting a USB works fine though.
