Title: New firmware available 1.10
Post by: jcgoobee on October 25, 2007, 08:10:03 PM
Loaded about an hour ago. So far so good.

Be sure to back up your settings first before upgrading. Your router's setting will be wiped after the new firmware is loaded.

Looking good, but cant see any difference, however the LAN speed seems a bit better, but that could be anything!

Still not working.  The only firmware working for me is 1.02.  All the other ones would crash.

I'm trying 1.10 with one wireless PC (Windows XP, D-Link N card), everything default except a static IP and a new SSID.  The wireless PC just couldn't connect.  Router log says "Wireless system with MAC address 001B1154983B disconnected for reason: AP maybe crash...".

The triangle light blinks every second, the 3-circle light blinks rapidly, the wireless light is steady.

My wired PC works fine.

What is the h/w ver: of your device?

My hardware version is A2.

I managed to get it working last night after hard-reseting the router and rebooting my wireless PC.  However, the router crashed some time during the night: the only connected wireless PC disconnected and other wireless PCs couldn't connect in the morning.  I power cycled the router and everything seemed to be working. Then the router crashed when I tried to copy a 50 MB file from a wireless PC to my wired PC.

I'm falling back to firmware 1.02.  Hope D-Link would spend more time on testing and fixing bugs. I'm using default settings and there's only one wireless PC with D-Link's own N card under Windows XP, yet the router crashes.  I just don't understand how you guys couldn't reproduce this.

My wireless connection rates get cut by about 50% with the 1.10 firmware (using DWA552 w/1.30 software as the wireless card) (router is A2 hardware).  My wired PC is in the basement, the wireless PC is on the second floor.

I switched back to the 1.05 firmware and my wireless connection speed returned to normal.  Conclusion:  The 1.10 firmware is probably not good for wireless connections over distance.  It was worth a shot anyway - your luck might be better.

Have you tried the 1.3 drivers for the 552.  I have a 552 on floor right above router that is connecting at 270 rate with 100% signal.

I'm using the 1.30, not the 1.20's.  I edited my original message to correct my typo.  The router and upstairs PC are in opposite corners, separated by 2 floors.  the 1.05 firmware handles it fine.  The 1.10 firmware does not.

After about two days of running, I experienced a spontaneous reboot. I have had the device since f/w: v1.02 and I have never before had such an occurrence. I have reverted back to f/w: v1.05 since one spontaneous reboot is one too many

The 1.06 was a closed Beta, a specific group of people were selected to test that firmware and it is not available to the public for download.

As for the wireless issues that edelbeb  was seeing, could there have been any other factors that were effecting your wireless performance? Did you try chaning the channel, encryption, or deleting the wireless profile in windows and reconecting?

We've tested the 1.10 firmware on a1 and a2 655 and saw increased wireless and wired performance.
Any feedback on the firmware is appreciated and D-Link is here to help.

I need to keep the router in the mixed Auto WPA/WPA2 mode.  On the days when my daughter is home from college, I want to make sure her laptop connects.  I did not have a chance to determine whether the problem disappears in WPA2 only mode.

The DIR-655 is manually set to channel 11.  I'm in a single family house.  Because my son sometime connects to XBox Live on his XBox 360 via the DGL-3420, I need to have a second router, the DI-634M, manually set to channel 6 and set up as a wireless access point connected via ethernet cable to the DIR-655 (I cannot connect the DGL-3420 wirelessly to the DIR-655, since that slows speeds to below 11b rates, at least with the 1.05 firmware).  The DGL-3420 was unplugged when I checked the 1.10 firmware, and the connection rate instantly decreased upon upgrading to 1.10 and instantly increased upon downgrading to 1.05.  I'm thinking its probably the Mixed WPA/WPA2 setting, but, as I said, I didn't have a chance to test that theory.

updated mine from 1.05 (still living in europe - and there is no "europe" 1.10 version available) to 1.10....
Working very well - no problems.......AND better speed for my wireless XBOX360 (via XEROX WNA 100 Bridge)
...around 10 % increase in download speed (tested via a 768 MB game download from XBOX Marketplace with v. 1.05 and v. 1.10)
