Title: Help desperatly needed with settings for IP CAM
Post by: knotan on February 20, 2014, 02:28:13 AM
Been trying to solve this by myself for a long time now but cant figure it out...

Problem:

I have an IP Camera outside connected to my Dir 855 router via wifi.
When I connect my laptop to the router via TP cable I can connect and see the IP camera just fine.
If I disconnect the TP cable and connect to the router with wifi I can no longer connect to the camera in any way, I can search for it and it shows up in the list with the ip the router has provided it.

How do I fix this, please help im stuck :)

Kind Regards
Knotan

Hello and thank you so much for your time!

My router info:

H/W ver: A3
F/W ver: 1.21 EU
Loaded firmware under status: 1.21EU, 2010/01/15

Ip cameras has the ip 192.168.0.127 and 192.168.0.126 and both uses port 80.

TP cable - RJ45, the ordinary cable between ex laptop-router when you dont use the wifi.

When I use RJ45 cable I can see the camera on all of my computors, when I connect to the router with wifi I cant. And i desperatly need to be able to see it using just wifi. My shop is way back behinde my house and I need to be able to see when deliverys and customers show up so I can go meet them.
Running a RJ45 cable up to the shop is not possible.

I have been trying to solve this for about 2 years but itīs been hard because I dont know what settings needs to be set and even where to look in the router to set them...

Any ideas?

Thank you for your time!

What IP address does your laptop have when connected via cable?
What IP address does your laptop have when connected via WiFi?

If I read correctly, you said you can connect to the camera when your laptop is plugged in, but not when your laptop is connected via WiFi?

My first guess is that your laptop is ending up on a different subnet (e.g. 192.168.1.x compared to 192.168.0.x) when it's connected wirelessly.

A temporary solution might be to try to access the cameras over an Internet interface rather than through the internal network.  (What type of cameras are they?  Are you viewing them through the direct IP interface by going to, for instance, http://192.168.0.127 in a web browser?)

Hi!

I just upgraded to F/W ver: 1.24EU

When I connect plugged the laptop gets the ip: 192.168.0.196
And when I connect with WIFI i get the ip: 192.168.0.195

Both use 255.255.255.0
Standard gateway: 192.168.0.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server:   192.168.0.1

When plugged in I can view the camera in both the surveillance center that came with the cameras and also through Firefox aka Server push mode.

When on wifi The login page in firefox wont even load and the surveillance center program can se the camera name and that its active but cant connect.

I know it must be some settings or port that needs to be opened, I just dont know what needs to be done.

The cameras are EasyN outdoor nightvision ip cameras.
Thanks so much for your time!

Well that's my first guess shot.  Hrm.
Is the laptop connecting wirelessly to the 855L, or to another wireless access point?
Is your wireless network set up as a Guest Zone by any chance?

You will have two separate IP addresses for your Laptop, one is for the wired connection and the other is for the wireless connection. This is normal operation.

What Mfr and model are these cameras?
What IP address is the camera getting?

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.
