Hi,
Would someone be kind enough to lend some tips on how to achieve this. I'm not a networking expert but understand concepts and with a bit of guidance can sometimes figure things out. More detail is great, thanks!
I have a device outside that is a router - it is not connected to the internet.
I want to connect a computer to it from inside the house.
I have a D-Link DWL-3200AP, managed wireless access point.
My AP currently works for all my wireless devices to use the internet normally.
Is there a way for my AP to connect to the outside device so my wired computer can communicate with that router?
Device Outside
- IP = 192.168.3.100
- Does have DHCP running on it (can use static IPs too of course)
Home Network
192.168.0.x/24 default VLAN
I also have a Cisco PIX firewall and a small HP Procurve switch.
Any ideas?
How would the AP connect to the wireless router?
Perhaps by setting up the VLAN on the AP, and Procurve?
Or perhaps just a manual static route on the windows computer?

What Brand and Model is this outside router?
You could try this: Turning a router into an AP. (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0)

I'm not sure, it is inside something else. I can load its http site and telnet to it, but there isn't any make/model/manufacturer information except for a website based out of Taiwan - parent company no useful information there.
In the routers website (the router that is outside), there are two types of network options available ad hoc (currently in use) and infrastructure.
I'm still stuck for ideas.

Can you use the DWL as your main AP connected to the ISP modem? You might by pass this router and connect the DWL to the modem. Not sure what else you can do.
You'll need to refer to the Mfr for support and information on this main host router.
Good luck.
