Title: Improvement of UPNP AV on set-top boxes
Post by: tlfrance on June 04, 2009, 05:37:55 AM
From ADSL set top boxes like freebox, which Upnp av is now implemented  since latest firmware, the dns 323 is well recognized, .avi files are visible but didn't played. When attempt to play a movie file, a dark screen is only visible (ethernet led didn't flick, seems content won't be able to read).
Most of upnp-av set top boxes works from windows media player as well.

For info, I just have installed the trial version of TwonkyVision, and it work great. So the issue is really, not comming from the freebox, but just from the embended upnp av server of the DNS-322. Is it in the plan to fix or change it?

What do you mean by other file types?
Actualy, the freebox can see only .avi files, but with the original upnp av you have a black screen and with the twonkyMedia it works :-\
I tries many video including those from the famous DivxTestCdV2

Oh I see. Sorry I can provide much help I don't have one of these box's to test with. All other media device seem to work fine so I'm not sure what it is that would need to be fixed for this one box to work. I will forward this Inquiry to see if it can be looked into.

Thank's ECS . The problem might provide from this box itself. For video, container must be .avi. And the structure of video streaming must be in a right format.

Hello, I want to use the dns-323 with a NMT PopcornHour A100. The problem is with the .srt files. Will the UPNP AV server support this files?
It would be great

HI ECF, someone just find that the DNS 323 add a double slash  to the URL who are send to the freebox, exemple:
http://192.168.0.10:55505/web//mnt/HD_a2/Audio_Video/Films/Home.avi

but the Freebox ask for:
http://192.168.0.10:55505/web/mnt/HD_a2/Audio_Video/Films/Home.avi
so the Freebox remove 1 slash and then the DNS-323 answer :

 "HTTP/1.1 404 File Not Found"
Hope this can help
Regards,
