Title: WiFi Drops on my New DGL-5500
Post by: Galeron on March 01, 2014, 03:12:59 AM
I just bought the DGL-5500, I received it in the mail 2 days ago. Ever since I hooked it up I have experienced constant internet disconnects on both my computer and my xbox 360. Both are hooked up through WiFi. I have 2 other computers hooked up through Ethernet cables, they seem to not have the same problems. I admittedly do have crappy service through my ISP, I pay for 30 down and 1 up. I usually get around 18-20 down and 1 up. I have them coming out on Wednesday to look at things. However, I did not have the WiFi drops like this with my previous router.

I will explain what exactly happens on both xbox and the computer when playing online games.

I will connect to the game and everything will be fine, up until I actually join a game server. I usually can play for an average of 6 min. before the game has a connection loss. On the xbox it loses connection to xbox live and on the computer it loses connection to Counter Strike: GO and to whatever voip im using at the time.

This is the weird part...to get the internet back on, all I have to do is disconnect from the network and reconnect and BOOM! it is instantly back on the internet. I do not have to restart the router nor do I have to restart the modem. This happens consistently throughout the day whenever I play.

Any ideas?

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
6" minimum safe distance between devices.

You're  experiencing the same issue I am. For me, it happens on the 5GHz band.
