Hi. I just set up my 868L and I am having trouble getting my Brother HL-2040 to connect. I downloaded SharePort Plus 4.2.0 R1. The software sees the printer, but when I click on the connect button, it instantly pops up a box that says connection to the printer failed.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your time.
Edited to add: I didn't have the last version of SharePort downloaded. I just downloaded 4.30 and now I can connect to the printer. Now it works perfectly.

Enjoy.

I was trying to connect my printer using only the Ethernet connection. I had upgraded from a Linksys EA3500. With that router, I simply connected my printer to the router and my family was able to print from their laptops.
My preference is to use that connection rather than Sharepoint (am I correct in saying that the host commputer has to be on at all times for Sharepoint to work?). I connected my printer to the DIR-868L via ethernet, but my family was unable to print for their computers. is there a default setting that I missed that I need to change??

If you connected the printer to the 868L, then there probably was an IP address change on the printer. You'll need to make sure that the PCs and the printer driver are configured to connect to the printers new IP address.

omg...LOL
that did it.
I had the printer prints its network settings and then I played around with my wife's Macbook settings until it connected.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
