Title: Issue with sound crackeling
Post by: mustangchris04 on March 05, 2014, 09:03:40 PM
I am experiencing an issue with the camera's audio crackling very loudly to a point where you cannot understand any spoken words from those in the camera's view. The only way to resolve the issue is to reset the camera from the web interface, after resetting the camera the issue is fixed and then it comes back a few hours later. Both of my brand new cameras are doing this. Connected to Cisco gigabit PoE switch. No issues with bandwidth, and the video frame is absolutly fine, it is just the audio. I changed the codec to g.711 from g.726 but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Chris

Before I went to bed I reset the cameras and the sound was perfect. When I woke up this morning the sound was crackeling horribly on both cameras.

If both cameras are impacted I suspect that the only common factor would be some environmental cause. Are both cameras plugged into the same electrical outlet? Can you move one of the cameras to another physical location (perhaps another building) to eliminate electrical or other competing signals as the root cause?

Cameras are plugged into a Cicsco enterprise grade PoE switch. Each camera is on the opposite end of the house with a dedicated wire. I installed a DCS-7010L this morning and it does not have the same audio symptoms as these 2210 models.

I brought the camera to my office and it had the same problem. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

Are any other DCS-2210 owners experiencing this issue? If so, please post your observations here

After a few days being plugged in, one of my DCS-7010L cameras is now experiencing the static noise issue. (The other one is not) It is not nearly as bad as the 2210. A reboot of the camera resolves the issue.

The fact that multiple cameras are experiencing this issue indicates there may be some environmental factor (i.e. signal interference) causing the noise. If you connect these cameras using a wired connection, does the noise stop?

All cameras are connected via PoE to a Cisco gigabit switch. The cameras that were using these existing ethernet cables were logitech alert, foscam, and trendnet. Neither of those brands experienced this issue. I also took one of the cameras to my office and it had the same issue.
A simple restart fixes the issue, so I can't understand how the "interference" could immediately disappear after the camera restarts.

I have a DCS-2230 that does this.  Sometimes the noise will suddenly stop and the audio is clear, but 80-90% of the time there is a buzzing distortion in the audio track--even when the room is completely silent.

On my 2230 I get 720p video clips where the video freezes for a minute or 2, but the sound continues.

I can't say I recall that noise in the latter half of the video. 1st part yes.

I have g726 encoding and 20 db gain for my 2230.

Can you swap there locations to rule out electrical interference or any other kind as a test?
