Title: DSL 2770L - can't update firmware
Post by: thenextbelt on March 06, 2014, 11:38:35 PM
Issue: Wi-fi connection drops every hour and now can't be found anymore, but internet works with a cable.

I was recommended by D-Link support team to update firmware but when I'm trying to do that it shows me the error message:

-------
Invalid upgrade file!
Please make sure you have correct file.
(Error code: -150)
The device is rebooting...
Please DO NOT POWER OFF the device.

-------

Where can be the problem?

File: DSL2770L_A1_AU_106_11152013.bin

Location: Australia
Provider: TPG

Always be wired to the modem when doing FW updates.
Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

It recommended to download the FW file to your connected PC and send the file from there instead of having the modem update from the UI page.

Point is: it worked perfectly during a month but later started drops out wifi so it is a Router problem not a software, I created a hotspot on my MAC and Wi-Fi works fine through it, but still not working through the router, just doesn't see it at all.

Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?

Just because it worked for a while doesn't mean that other WiFi routers could have moved in to the area and now maybe causing interferences...If it was working then something has probably cause  the router to no work well now...

What OSX version are you using? Of you go to the App Store, look for InSSIDer or iStumbler.
