my computer keeps dropping the internet connection. i can not get my pc to open a bin file that the updated firmware is on. any suggestions.

if the file you download is a .bin, then you simply need to upload the file to the DIR-655 using the router web UI. Using a browser, enter the IP address of the router and navigate to TOOLS > Firmware and update the firmware. I recommend using IE for the upgrade.
