Title: pc will not open firmware for dir655 update

my computer keeps dropping the internet connection.  i can not get my pc to open a bin file that the updated firmware is on.  any suggestions.

if the file you download is a .bin, then you simply need to upload the file to the DIR-655 using the router web UI. Using a browser, enter the IP address of the router and navigate to TOOLS > Firmware and update the firmware. I recommend using IE for the upgrade.

i'm a little confused on how to make this recipe work. even on i.e. i get the following response. 

Windows has the following information about this file type. This page will help you find software needed to open your file.


File Type: Binary Data File

File Extension: .bin
Description: No known program will open this file. This file is part of a program.
