Hey All,
I have a DNS-323 with the 1.06 firmware. When using my PS3 to watch video files on the NAS it will work fine, however if I am also modifying file names or otherwise accessing the NAS through my computer at the same time, a message will often appear through the PS3 stating, "The folder could not be accessed. This content may have been deleted from the media server." Sometimes this will cause the video to crash with the error "This content cannot be played (80028801)". After restarting the video it will continue to play. This can occur even if the files i am playing with are in a different folder.
Now, I know the simple answer is to simply not mess about with the files while watching a video, but I was wondering if there was anything else i could do to try and avoid the crash?

You don't mention what files you are working with. If you have the av server on and are working with them the AV server could be trying to refresh and it could be moving the file you are playing. You can turn off auto refresh but you have to remember to manually refresh the AV server.

I too have the ps3 and use the dlink to serve up media
While the Dlink 323 sounds like it will do everything for you when serving up to the PS3, I find it has tremendous challenges working flawlessly with the PS3
If you change the file structure on the DNS323 via windows file explorer you will need to do a power cycle refresh, ie shut down the DNS, leave power cord unpluged for 5 minutes, hook up again and then refresh the directory.
I dont know much about linux but I think there is some index file that the DNS323 makes and does not update properly or gets corrupted but I have no problem with my computer seeing the files on the 323 but the ps3 runs into trouble a lot
As a back up you should put a media server onto your computer and point it to the DNS323 directory structure,
tversity is good but I have been finding the PS3 media server to be much more compatible
both are free
best of luck and lets hope 1.08 update fixes a lot of problems.
