Title: I can't connect in mode 802.11n
Post by: jirico on March 10, 2014, 02:56:13 PM
Hi. I 'm trying to connect to my laptop using mode 802.11n but I can only get mode g. I made a research and changed the settings to WPA-Personal, WPA2-only and AES. I also forced my router mode to 802.11n only.

That way I connect but when I go to status it shows me that it's in mode 802.11g with 20-40M rate.

My laptop is new and has support for n mode, here are my data:

Laptop adapter:  Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC
Laptop OS: Windows 8

Router:  DIR-615
Hardware Version: E5
Firmware Version: 5.11BR

Serial number: F3XE4B8013387

I appreciate any help thanks.

Does this happen with any other wireless devices? While using single mode N/ WPA2/AES only and Auto 20/40Mhz?

Is short GI enabled? Try Disabled...

It's possible that this router maybe incompatible with newer wireless HW...

Thanks for the answer. I'm from Brazil. I tried other devices as well(smartphones) and they all connect using g mode not n.

I tried to disable short GI in advanced wireless menu and I disabled QoS Engine too, but I still cant't get to mode n. I also tried to change channel width from 20 mhz to Auto 20-40mhz.

I dont't think my laptop network card is that new because the installed driver date is from 2012.

Is there any newer compatible firmware version I can try?

Unfortunately your at the most recent version of FW and I don't believe D-Link will be doing any more future updates. You could phone contact D-Link support and ask for help and information regarding this...

Only other suggestion you could do is to turn OFF the WiFI on the 615 and install a newer DAP model AP on the 615 to upgrade the WiFi...

Something like a DAP-1522, 1525, 1533...
