Title: DWA-182 and Apple Airport Extreme routers.
Post by: pixelsmack on March 13, 2014, 10:45:22 PM
My D-Link DWA-182 can see my 5GHZ channel 132 with 100% signal quality. It can also see my 2.4GHZ channel 11 with 100% signal quality. However when I attempt connection the 5G access point, it fails to connect and connects me to the 2.4G.

All my Apple Wifi AC products can connect to the 5G. Why can't my D-Link? I am using the latest driver 3.01b and am running Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit. I am missing out on a lot of Wifi AC speeds.

Possible that the DWA-180 is not compatible with Apples AE...

Try disabling the 5Ghz WiFi security on the AE as a temporary test to see if the 182 will connect to the open signal...Turn back on afterwards...

What WiFi security modes are you using on the AE?

Burbank California, United States.

I have disabled the wifi security, temporarily, to test. I get the same results. It won't connect. I use WPA2/AES normally.

The DWA-182 is supposed to be the latest Dual Band AC adapter, it should work I would think.

Possible issue between the 182 and AE router. Apple could be using different drivers on there router.

I would test the 182 out on a different router, say a friends or families router if possible where there is a different router. If it works there, then you'll know.

I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support and ask about this as well.

Let us know how it goes...
