why is the resolution/clarity for the 5222l ip camera far inferior to the non-hd ip camera5020l ? Both r on same network and the settings are correct. dlink says it is the lens,so why even use the 5222l camera if the less expensive 5020l has better quality video ?

My 5222l is better than 5010l.. its in hd.
I only use night mode.
Is yours simply out of focus?

I'm not sure about the DCS-5222L, but a number of the Cloud cameras have a bezel surrounding the lens that can be manually rotated to focus the image.

I have checked the focus on the lens and it is focused. ????

Additionally, on a mobile phone it shows the resolution to be only half what the non-HD camera is ???
240p v 480p

Here's an FAQ post that provides some information on the display size of live video feeds through mydlink: myDlink.com - The Size of My Live Feed Is Different for Internet vs. LAN Viewing (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48143.0)

I have the same issue with the 5222L. I have 5 D-Link cameras on my network which display as follows when viewed remotely.
942L 480p
942L 480p
2332L 480p
5020L 480p
5222L 240p
The 2332L defaults to 480p but allows me to change to 240p or HD
The 5222L offers no alternative but 240p
I have done a factory reset and re-installed using the latest wizard. I updated the firmware to the latest version. So far, this camera has been a real disappointment.

I'll clarify further since it hasn't been mentioned.
I'm on Android wifi (remotely) or 4g when using my dlink app.

Same issue as Mcgruff and settings are correct. Just a way for dlink to get more for a inferior camera by calling it HD.

I'm presuming this is a mydlink service issue. Perhaps the service is not classifying the camera as having multiple resolution options. :-\ ???
