Purchased a DCS-2332L a couple days ago off of Amazon. Setup was really easy after reading thru this forum :).
The cam sends me motion notifications emails but not the captured images. I have the event type set to "snapshot" with pre-event set to 3 and post set to 7. Profile 1 and 2 on the camera are set to JPEG.
Any ideas?

Just noticed that I didn't install a SD card, is that it?

I tried everything to get email working and still no go. I tried FTP and it is working, but now the jpegs and avi files are sent to the ftp, but the files are always 0 kb.
ANyone?

I have mine sending email snapshots without any problems. I don't use JPEG for either profile I use H.264 but I'm pretty sure this menu affects video only. Try switching to H.264 to see if this makes a difference.
You do not need an SD card.
What email service are you using?

Thanks for your reply! When I switch to H264, I assume it sends videos instead of images correct? My Profile 1 is set to H264 and Profile 2 to JPEG. Since the email option is not working I need to switch to FTP to see what is being sent.
I'm using gmail as my email client. Tried all the ports and opened port forwarding on my router. But still no data being sent to email.
On the FTP, If I choose Profile 1 (h264), then it sends Zero KB .AVI files. If I try Profile 2 (jpeg), it sends Zero KB jpg files.

No it sends images when the selections in EVENT SETUP are MEDIA > Snapshot.
I don't think the video profile resolutions make any difference for the snapshots.
I also use gmail to receive although I use yahoo to send. The only reason I did this was I don't want gmail getting locked for sending too many messages if for some reason the cam goes on a sending spree (as it has in the past when I was learning the settings)

BTW I said that I didn't think the profiles applied to snapshots. That is obviously incorrect as when setting up a snapshot it asks which profile to use. I use 1280x800 / H.264 / 30fps for my snapshots.

I am having the same problem. Will be interested if you find the solution. Just found this forum, and am looking for more information.

Does an email test execute properly?

Check your "sent mail" folder. I've been having a problem lately where the camera sends an e-mail but the attachment is simply a text file "log.evt" and no photos. I solved this problem earlier by creating two separate "Media" types (both snapshots) using two different profiles. They had a warning where if you created two events using same media you may not get an attachment for one of the media.
Now more interesting for me recently is I have enabled continuous scheduled recording using Profile 1 (H.264) and if I save a "clip" to the SD it works well, but if I try to e-mail it I get the same error as above - just a log file attachment.
I found debugging this to be much easier using a SMTP server which saves your "Sent" mail so you can see what the e-mails look like when you send them out. FYI - smtp.gmail.com does this nicely but be careful, I got locked out of my gMail account for 24hrs when the camera sent out a flood of images.

Is there a step by step breakdown of what a person needs to do to set up these camera's to either send snapshots by email or storing them to the SD card.

;D ;D ;D Guys I was not receiving photo snaps ether, was looking for on all websites. Even customer service don't know s. Answer is easy as s. Uncheck email notifications and that's it. You will start receiving photo notifications. Just don't forget to check motion detection. ::) ::) ::)
