Title: HELP in adding 2nd HD
Post by: jleggett on June 06, 2009, 11:35:27 AM
So I have had my DNs-323 for quit awhile and been great.  Started it with a 500GB drive I bought at the same time but it's been filling up.  So I bought a new 750GB drive on sale at Fry's when I got my new Mac Book pro, thinking that would make a nice cheaper Time Machine backup drive ($65 vs $300 from Apple!).  So I removed my 500 GB drive, put in the 750GB, and formatted it to set it up.  But it never asked me about Volume Name or anything and made it Volume_1 as well.  So NOW, I have TWO drives both Volume_1, and it "sees' 2 drives but only reports the space and free space of the original 500.  HOw fo I make the 750GB a "Volume_2" or some similar.  I don't want to re-format both together as I will lose the data on the 500GB.  I have googled every way I can think of to describe this with no luck, so thanks in advance for any help.

Sheesh, it was easy... swap the position of the two drives...

it's a common question about the dns-323. under the lid they should have a label with an arrow that says:
<-- Volume1
       Volume 2 -->
I labeled my dns units so i wouldn't forget.  :)
