Title: Transfer rate 15% only 45Mb
Post by: pp1111 on October 28, 2007, 09:38:43 PM
I'm using the DIR-655 Xtreme N router with this DWA-552 card.
My transfer rate Max. is only 15% of 300Mb. Which is around 45Mb.
I tranfser a file from a LAN PC to the wireless PC.
Tried with another router and card, all settings, same.\

Called tech support, they said they do NOT support the transfer rate.

Can anyone please help?

When you are connected go to the routers web setup page, on the Status tab select the wireless link on the left.  What does it say here for your rate and signal strength.

Also which drivers and firmware are you using?
Are you using the DLink connection manager or Windows Zero Configuration to manage the wireless connection?
What Security mode are you using?

The biggest problem here is that using Windows file transfers for this kind of testing is shooting yourself in the foot.  What we need to test is network speed not Network Speed + SMB Protocol + CPU + File System + Hard Disk Speed + Anything else that may get in the way. Please use another form of benchmarking (the word benchmark is a hint at the software you need) suite for more indicative results.  Also is this Mb (megabit) or MB (megabyte), as this makes a huge difference (8X to be exact).

Does your wireless client report being connected at 300Mbps?
Is your LAN PC gigabit?
