Title: After upgrade to 1.04 cant achieve 300mbps
Post by: felircf on March 28, 2014, 08:10:35 AM
In 1.01 I was able to connect with 300mbps speed. I have a dir-655 also and no problem. Now the max speed is 144Mbps. Is this a fw problem?

  • What region are you located?
  • Has a Factory Reset (http://blog.dlink.com/what-is-a-reset-button-when-should-i-use-it) been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
  • Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
  • What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?

  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode N or mixed G and N?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz.
  • Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channel) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • What wireless devices do you have connected?
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF Short GI (http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/30969-what-do-80211ns-optional-features-mean-for-you), WLAN Partition, Extra Wireless Protection and HT 20/40 Co-existence if you have it. Also testing with HT20/40Mhz Co-existence enabled will impact results as well. I prefer to use this option OFF. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

What region are you located? Brazil
Has a Factory Reset been performed? Just the upgrade.
Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch? No

Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual. Ok. All things are allright. My 655 perform well. The problem is the 645
What wireless modes are you using? G and N.
2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode N or mixed G and N? OK. Same speed.
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz. Ok
Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. Ok. Nothing happened same speed.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES. Ok. Same speed.
What wireless devices do you have connected? only an laptop with intel pro wifi N adapter.
Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by? No.
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Only 2. But I turn off the 645 and turn on the 655 and the connection achived was 300mbps.
If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF Short GI, WLAN Partition, Extra Wireless Protection and HT 20/40 Co-existence if you have it. Also testing with HT20/40Mhz Co-existence enabled will impact results as well. I prefer to use this option OFF. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless. Dont have the short GI here. But test everything and still stuck on the same speed.

I recommend that you reload FW code again following this process please:
FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Do the factory reset before and after sending the FW file. Then set up single mode N, Auto 20/40Mhz, WPA2/AES only and disable HT20/40Mhz Co-existence.

Please use IE or FF for sending the FW file and disable any browser add-ons and 3rd party security SW before sending the FW file.

Ok this solve the problem of the speed! thank you!

I have another problem now. My 655 have a a range a LOT BETTER than this 645, why? Smartbean dont work? and other thing, everytime when I try to use the DLNA the router freeze and need restart.

To be honest, that's the worst dlink product I've ever had.

Please post about your other problems in a new thread please. Please give details of the DIR-655, ie. Rev # and FW version.

We'll help you out there.

The 645 has worked great for me and others...One of the best routers I've had.
