Title: DWA-182 not stable on Windows 7
Post by: wpjwong on March 28, 2014, 07:55:42 PM
I used DWA-182 in 3 PCs with Gigabytes motherboard and USB3. It reports "The Device can perform faster if you connect it to USB3 port". Every time when the PC is boosted, DWA-182 will connected and then disconnected for 2 times before it can have a 5GHz connection. Sometime after 2 connected and disconnected, it remains disconnected. What I need to do is to unplug and plug the DWA-182 again. Very annoying as compared with DWA-140 (which is 802.11n), which is very reliable and stable.

My firmware of DWA-182 is v.301B. Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit. Wifi router is DIR-868L.

Any suggestion and help is welcome.

Does the adapter work in a different PC as a test?
Does it work in a USB 2.0 port?

Ensure the PC and USB drivers are up to date. Refer to the PC or Motherboard Mfr support site for information and support.

I have 3 different PCs using DWA-182 with the latest firmware. 2 PC's are using USB3 and one PC is using USB2 but all behave the same. It can work but it will connect and disconnect for 3 times when the PC boot up, before it can establish a stable wifi link.

The firmware of PC monther boards of 2 PC's are the latest before I bought it last month and check the firmware are the lates on the Gigabyte web site.

Thank you for your support.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Let us know how it goes...
