Title: Impossible to connect to WiFi (with encryption on)
Post by: rubeng on April 03, 2014, 06:39:08 AM
Hi guys.

I need a little advice or help.

I just got the DCS2332L camera and connected it to my router. I ran the setup wizard so I could add the camera to the cloud with my other indoor cameras (3 pcs. 932L).

I didn't get any errors during setting up the camera. But in the end, after chosing WiFi connection, I am asked to unplug the ethernet cable and then press ok - that's it.

At this point I see the camera is not connecting to my AP (Cisco AIR2602E). I just keep on seeing errors in the log from the AP like this:
*Apr  3 15:15:04: %DOT11-7-AUTH_FAILED: Station 2810.7b11.XXXX Authentication failed
*Apr  3 15:15:10: %DOT11-7-AUTH_FAILED: Station 2810.7b11.XXXX Authentication failed
*Apr  3 15:15:23: %DOT11-7-AUTH_FAILED: Station 2810.7b11.XXXX Authentication failed

I am 100% pretty sure I typed the correct PSK, encryption and so on.

Well, after fighting for some hours I find and old D-link accesspoint which I quickly configure with a new SSID, WPA2-PSK. But the camera still won't connect to the AP.

Returning to the Cisco AP, I try to remove encryption and leave the SSID open for everybody - and the camera connects!

Is it really true that the camera can't connect to a WiFi SSID with WPA2-PSK configured? Or WPA-PSK? Or even WEP 40/128bits? As soon as I add encryption to the SSID the camera disconnects.

I have also made 2 factory resets of the camera without any luck. I have tried to use the setup wizard - and configured it manually from the camera GUI.

I really like this camera - and I don't want to return it - but running an unencrypted open SSID is not an option for me.

Am I doing something wrong?

I have 3 DCS-932L cameras running just fine.

Any help is appreciated :)

/Ruben

I use WPA2-PSK without any problems so the quick answer is that it does work.
In your case have you tried a different password? Does your pw have any special characters in it?
That's my first thought at least.

Thanks for your reply - I also thought of this and have tried different combinations of passwords, but no luck. Samsung tablet, iPhones, Playstation, Laptops, other D-link cameras (932L), Squeezebox, Ubnt Mfi units... they all connect fine.

I have actually decided to return the camera today - so lets not spend too much time on it. I am a little unsatisfied with the WiFi in the camera. Even though I run it on an unencrypted SSID - it keeps dropping the connection - even though I have a 932L D-link camera nearby the 2332L with a great signal.

Too bad, caus' I like the camera and the idea of not having ethernet cables outside. Perhaps I will look at the PoE-model and then just use cables. It would, in the end, be nice to have all cameras in the D-link cloud.

Have a nice weekend :)

Hello,

I had a same issue (Cisco 2602 or Cisco 702I AP versus D-link 2332L cameras).
The solution the new firmware for the camera (Version 1.05.02), this firmware supported the WPA2-PSK wireless algorithm.
You can update the camera and voila! It's works!
