Dyn to Shut Down DynDNS Free Service (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Dyn-to-Shut-Down-DynDNS-Free-Service-128457)

Ok, I'll bite. Does this mean Dlinkddns is also not going to be free anymore?
If this is the case, can I be the first to request allowing the manual entering of one's ddns service of choice.

I have used dyndns for years, and i have now just started to move my stuff from dyndns to no-ip. i can say no-ip is alot quicker than dyndns. my cctv is much faster to load.

Will we Dlink customers be affected by this?
-
Hi folks,
I have searched and at this time, Dlinkddns users have not been affected. Users of the parent, DynDNS Free Service, who never contributed, apparently have received or will be receiving email notices about the end to the "free" service. Dlink probably had some kind of contract or service agreement with DynDNS but the terms are unknown to the public. My best guess is that Dlinkddns will continue to be free to owners of Dlink products at least in the short run. Dlink is strangely silent on this issue, at least as far as I know. If this will financially impact Dlink, I would assume they will decide what if any options they will have and how it will impact Dlink's customer base. Until then, we are all going to have to wait and see. But if anyone using Dlinkddns gets a notice, please post the details asap.
