Title: "Routers are unable to detect your Internet connection type."
Post by: HivJiriel on April 09, 2014, 09:19:56 PM
This is going to be a quick question, and I pray that it gets a quick answer, because I've been having problems with this particular router all day & all night.

I bought this router a few days ago, and I have followed the setup instructions to the letter. I'm currently using a Win7 netbook to attempt to set up & connect to the router through a wired connection, and every time the router attempts to detect the type of internet connection I have (cable internet), the message in the topic title always appears. Is this some sort of issue with the firmware version of my router (1.02 out-of-the-box), or is there another problem with this particular model that I don't yet realize?  :(

We need to find out what ISP and modem services he has first...

Using Automatic DNS works for me however I do use manual DNS with DNS Relay OFF. Name Bench is good to find better DNS over ISP DNS>..

Any status on this?

Does a PC directly connected to the ISP modem exhibit the same thing?

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

There is newer FW available too. However I have had any issues with v1.02.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) if your interested. Its safe and secure.
