In DSL 2750U router ( firmware version - IN_1.10 ), I see that though router retrieves real DNS server from ISP, it pushes default gateway as DNS to PC. This link (http://goo.gl/Kznt80) tells this is common behavior of most commercial routers. I have 2 queries.
1. I have enabled DHCP on router and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' in connection properties in PC. Is there any way, so that router(2750U) pushes real DNS of ISP instead of sending default gateway as DNS.
2. I tried reading 2750U manual for more information on fields under 'Enable DNS Proxy' like 'Host name of the Broadband Router' and 'Domain name of the LAN network'. The manual doesn't mention any thing. What does the fields mean ? Unless I tick the check box titled 'Enable DNS Proxy' in router settings, I cannot access internet. Why? If I hard code, Google DNS( 8.8.8.8 ) in PC, I can access internet even with out 'Enabling DNS Proxy'.

You need to enter in manual DNS into the modem, then disable DNS Proxy then reboot all devices:

I had tried using static DNS and retried the mentioned steps again. Rebooted both PC and router multiple times(power switch off). Still there is no internet connection either until I 'Enable DNS Proxy' or hard code the DNS in PC.
Kindly see attached screenshots of steps mentioned. Let me know if I should mention updates from a wireshark trace.
1. Set Static DNS

2. Disable DNS Proxy

3. See Summary

4. Connection details on PC - still default gateway as DNS and no internet connection

Is there a DNS Relay feature anywhere on the modem?
-
No. There is no DNS relay feature in this modem. There is a topic related to this at this link (http://goo.gl/aSPC7E).

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
