Title: Beta Testing
Post by: fly on June 09, 2009, 05:16:44 PM
Why cant we try something like this? Seems like a win-win situation to me.

Interested in being a beta tester for upcoming EVA9000/9150 firmware releases?
NETGEAR invites volunteers for beta testing future EVA9000/9150 firmware releases.

About NETGEAR Beta Program:

Beta software is code that is not fully tested, but is released so that NETGEAR can act on early feedback, and so that customers are involved with our development process. Bug reports can be extremely useful for everyone — since we can't test all combinations of hardware, software and network configurations everywhere around the world.

NETGEAR's beta evaluation program is ran and monitored through a forum discussion. Submitted bug reports are evaluated by a senior engineer. Depending on the problem it may be marked for eventual fixing. If the circumstances of the problem are not clear, an engineer may contact you. Otherwise there may be no response.

Include:

    * Problem description
    * The NETGEAR model number
    * Beta software or firmware version
    * Steps on how to duplicate the issue
    * Also other information you think might be relevant, such as your operating system, options you have changed from default configuration, etc.

Thanks! Your help in the beta program has made a considerable difference!

a number of the other hardware on this forum has people actively looking at the beta.

look at the DNS line of NAS.
I have a beta firmware installed myself since it added good value for me.

Not all lines of hardware are comfortable with beta.  others like the DSM-750 just don't go through that many revisions over the course of a year.

I personally like the idea of beta testing and intend to volunteer as soon as my new eva9150 arrives.  The DSM750 was shipped back yesterday thanks to all your excellent comments and posts.
