A few weeks ago I bought this nice portable router/repeater etc, with hardware version A2.
It was loaded with the 1.06 version of the firmware. On the Dutch support page (http://www.dlink.com/nl/nl/support/product/dir-505-shareport-mobile-companion?revision=deu_reva2) the latest firmware version is 1.06b05. On the USA support page (http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-505) there is version 1.07. In the release notes (http://ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DIR-505/REVA/DIR-505_RELEASENOTES_1.07_EN.TXT) I see:
Firmware 1.06
Date:
Release Notes:
- Fixed DUT issue at repeat/hotspot mode
- Fixed DUT issue of WPS function when MAC address filter is enabled
Firmware 1.07
Date: 09/05/2013
Release notes
Fixed security vulnerabilities
1.06b05 is not mentioned. It seems to me that security vulnerabilities have to be fixed. However, I don't know if I can apply this version to my device.
Furthermore I don't know how the performance is affected.
Maybee someone here knows?

If any EU region,
You can find EU v1.07 here:

I live in the Netherlands, so yes in the EU.
Any idea why this more recent firmware is not on the Dutch support page?
-
No idea here. I presume they may have not placed it there yet or something.
You can phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask them about that to see why DE has it and DU does not...
You can apply the DE version, be sure to use the FW update process linked.
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the quick reply. I let you know when I've flashed the device, it will be this weekend.
