Title: Can someone tell me what these log entries mean?
Post by: DCIFRTHS on June 09, 2009, 10:58:09 PM
I did a search, and found many posts with the same log messages, but none of the posts, or follow ups, addressed what they mean. The log entries are:

[INFO]   Wed Jun 10 01:43:39 2009   guest: Unlock AP setup
[WARN]   Wed Jun 10 01:43:39 2009   primary: Lock AP setup

I am using Firmware Version: 1.21, and Hardware Version: A3.

EDIT: Update contents.

Just a guess....

Are you using the Guest Network ?

If so then it looks like these are the entries that tell you that the main network is being isolated from the guest network.

I just double checked, and the Guest Network is disabled. Any other thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks!

I see these entries in my log too but I have no clue what it means.

I am searching the web, and it seems that people are posting logs that have these messages in them. So far, I haven't found an explanation, but I did come across this... http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir825/Logs.html (http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir825/Logs.html).

Hopefully someone from D-Link will comment as to what these messages mean.

Do you have a active schedule for your primary SSID ?
Or other internet restrictions set ? (Access control / Website Filter)

Looking into the emulator log, there is no restriction set and the router unlocks both wireless setup, so perhaps it is due to a schedule or filter.

No schedule for the SSID, Access Control is disabled, and Website Filter has no entries.

On the TOOLS --> SCHEDULE page, there is a section called "Schedule Rules List". In this section, there is an entry called "Test". It is enabled for 24 hours a day (for email alerts - which aren't working). Could this be the source of the messages?

Firmware is version: 1.21

Just looked into the menu of my DIR.

In Advanced/WiFi Protected Setup you have the option to "Lock Wireless Security" after all devices have been configured.

If this option is set you may get the message:  "primary: Lock AP setup"

Good observation Lizzi555. I have both boxes checked in Wi-Fi protected setup and I get those messages.

Yes. WiFi Protected Setup and Lock Wireless Security were both checked. I have disabled them, and will check the logs to see if I still get the messages.

I would like to confirm that disabling these options will only affect automatically configuring devices for wireless access, and nothing else. Is this correct?

Thanks!
