Title: Shareport Plus 4.x
Post by: prusten on May 07, 2014, 02:32:31 AM
Hi everyone,

I have a Router DIR-655 whit USB Shareport support where I'd like to connect my printer (HP M1132).
So, I installed Shareport Plus 4.x, the latest I could find. But it doesn't work with my DIR-655 (A4, firmware 1.3WW). After many tries and much patience, I found the working combination: Firmware 1.3EU + Shareport 1.20. I can now share my printer, print and scan with Shareport on DIR-655.

However, Shareport 1.20 is a quite old version without auto-connect function (Shareport plus 4.x) which is really a great help.

Is there anyway to make Shapreport plus 4.x working with DIR-655 A4, 1.37EU? Or is the anyway to flash on this router another firmware that will work with Shareport 4.x?

Thanks in advance,

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

This is a FW/SW issue that can't be resolved here in the forums. Rev A routers are becoming out of date and thus only developed on if a security issue is found and needs to be fixed. You'll need to see if either FW or SW changes can't be made by D-Link. If not, you may have to work with v1.20 SW or possibly get into a Rev B DIR-655 that better handles v4.xx Shareport SW.

Thanks Furry for your quick replay.
I'm from Vietnam and my re-seller don't know much about D-Link's shareport :). Finally, I think about buying a "print server" or "Printer's usb to Lan adapter".

I would have contacted official D-Link support, not the re-seller. Yes, using a Print server device or USB to Lan adapter is a good alternative suggestion.

Good Luck.
