Title: Night vision wont click on.
Post by: arazor96 on May 12, 2014, 06:08:46 AM
I Have three of these cameras.  One of them wont actually engage the night vision correctly.  the other two when switching have this loud "click", the image goes to black and white, and the IR lights come on.  this one no longer "clicks" over but does switch to black and white and ir lights come on.  When looking at the image it's like just trying to watch through a black and white camera in the dark.
anyone have this issue or a resolution?

If you go into the room with the DCS-5010L while the camera is in Night Mode, do the IR illuminators turn on (red lights) similar to the other two cameras?

yes they do.
if i put the camera in night mode manually they are on but i hear no "click" and its just like watching a black and white image. if i turn the lights out to test i get no night vision.

The clicking sound that you hear is the IR cutfilter which moves via magnets. Try gently tapping the camera. . . perhaps the mechanism is sticking.

You are probably looking at a defective unit and can call D-Link technical support and request an RMA.

There are no controls on the DCS-5010L that could cause the camera to go into Night Mode, while not engaging the IR cut filter.  Night Mode is either "on" or "off", there are no options that can be set to cause your DCS-5010L's symptoms.
