Title: Will Not Authenticate
Post by: Daveg891 on May 12, 2014, 01:30:58 PM
I have two DNS-320's on two different networks at two different locations. They both have the same problem.

Both have two users - User A and User B.  There are 6 shares on each. User A is given read/write access to the first 3 shares and denied access to the last 3.  User B has read/write to the second three shares and denied access to the first 3.

User A works as expected - after authenticating the user can access the shares they should and is denied access to the ones not allowed.  User B however cannot access the shares that should be allowed.  An access denied message is displayed. This is after User B is challenged for credentials and the default credentials changed to specify a different account - User B.

After looking at the log, I can see the CIFS authentication attempt, but it is for the wrong user.  Doesn't matter how many times I enter User B and the password when challenged, it's always User A that is attempting to authenticate which of course fails because User A is denied access to User B's shares.

I've tried this from a variety of PC's (all workgroup Windows 7) with no difference.  Altering the domain has no effect.  I'm thinking this is more a Windows problem than the NAS, but has anyone else experienced this?

Are the usernames on the NAS the same as the Windoze Usernames?
