Title: Firmware version 1.01 too old?
Post by: donw146 on May 19, 2014, 12:04:38 PM
I'm getting ready to install a DIR-868L to replace my DIR-655. I've seen recommendations (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0) to not update the firmware unless you have a problem. However, in reviewing the firmware release logs I've seen some security and bug fixes and am uneasy about continuing to use an older release.

Is it safe to update to the latest version (1.07B02)?

I'm in North America and have hardware revision A1.

Is it possible to roll back to 1.01 (or another version) if there is a problem with the latest?

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

It is ok to use what is loaded or update to the most recent to satisfy your concerns.

Security issues are corrected in later versions and Bridge mode was added in v1.02 and all versions after that.

If you decide to update, Please follow this:
FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Yes mine is loaded with v1.07 and is working great for me.

Let us know how it goes.

I've been running version 1.07 for some time now. It works well with my settings.

When I do a firmware check I see that there is now version 1.09 available. It is not clear that any of the latest updates are needed if my router is working well so I've been delaying updating until someone else on the forum went first and had success.

"If it works, don't fix it!"

I've been running v1.09 both in router and bridge mode. Working well for me.
