I suppose there is no facility for re-flash, or refit, of an otherwise useless DCS6620G ????

The D-Link consumer cameras do not have stock firmware saved on ROM for a firmware restoration. Firmware must be manually uploaded to the camera.  Can you access the camera web UI via entering the camera IP address in a web browser from a PC on the same LAN as the camera?
