So after loading the 1.08 firmware and rebooting, I can't seem to get Easy Search to discover my 323 on the network, with either version 4.4 or the beta. I tried using the reset button to revert to factory settings to no avail. Any thoughts on what else I can try at this point?
Using a single Seagate barracuda 1TB drive, and upgraded from 1.07.

I have the same problem after upgrading to 1.08 >:(
-
If you running any anti-virus or personal firewall software please try disabling it or properly configuring it yo allow the Easy Search utility to discover devices on the network.
-
I have the same problem.
It cannot be because of antivirus or firewall as easy search was able to find DNS-323 before upgrading to 1.08.

It still can I would not just automatically rule that out I would try it. The device may have changed IP addresses.
-
I have static ip for DNS-323 and I dont have FW in LAN.

What happens when you ping the static address or access it in the browser? Also try to Windows command line and enter \\192.168.xx.xx (DNS-323 address) can you access the volume? Have you power cycled the unit or tried a factory reset and see if the device shows up? You can also try checking your routers status and see what device it detects on the LAN including there IP address.

Thanks for the replies. I don't get any response after pinging, nor does it show up in the router's IP list. I've tried power cycling and reverting to factory defaults without any results. Is there any way to re-flash the firmware to an earlier version manually?
-
Nope..you cant flash the firmware unless you can access the UI. Try to access the unit at its default IP address 192.168.0.99. Be sure to set your PC NIC to the same network range 192.168.0.xx.

I got mine to work. The reason why it did't show in easySearch was that my netBios was disabled...

hmm, no luck with this either. Is my only option at this point to buy another DNS to salvage the data on my HD?

Can you describe what the LEDs are doing in the front?
-
Sure, the power LED and drive light are both blue as normal, but the network activity light remains dark.
-
Is this the status from when you turn the unit on? It really seems like the device may have failed at this point.
-
Yeah, that was the status when it was turned on. However I just rebooted it, and after the boot up sequence (power LED and drive light blink, network LED lights up), all three are lit up. Oddly enough, the network LED only blinks when I hit 'refresh' in the easy search utility, but nothing shows up in the device list.

I'm having exactly the same problem after upgrading to 1.08-- easy search will no longer find the 323. I'm able to get to configuration by typing the address directly. The device also shows on Vista and was able to set all my permissions and map drives again. I treid 3 diferent PC's, all with diferent O/S and none will find it easy search. I tried the Netbios trick, didn't work.
Another weird thing, if i try to access the iTunes config. page, the browser will display the page really funny and any other page after that, all the graphics and colors in the page dissapear.

Okay, so I was finally able to fix this issue by wiring up my DNS on another network with a different router. For some reason the DNS was able to get an IP address from the router's DHCP server, unlike before. It still wasn't appearing in Easy Search though, so I logged in and reverted back to 1.07.
-
I would assume a new revision of the Easy Search Utilily will be needed with this new firmware...

Hello.
Same problem here. I have two DNS-323, an old one with 1.06 FW and a new one with 1.08. The old one always appear in Easy Search but not the second one (1.08) . I can see it in my router attached devices, can ping it and access it directly by IP through Firefox. I have restart it but no chance. This problem has occured since I ran a diskscan. Don't know if there is a relation between these two bugs.
Would like to hear someone about this.
Regards.

I assumed so too, but the beta version of easy search had the same problem.

If you can access the one running 1.08 in Firefox, I would just revert it back to FW 1.07. Personally, I can wait for 1.08 to come out of beta.

Thanks for the comment. For sure I can revert to 1.07 and wait for 1.08. In fact I report this bug for two reasons: find a solution if there is one and try to help to optimize this beta FW.
