Title: DCS-5222L Verizon Email Setup
Post by: peterwl777 on June 18, 2014, 06:17:47 PM
Trying to set up Email notification.
I have Verizon and use Outlook to access emails on my computer.
From Verizon's website they state the following;

Mail server settings: Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.verizon.net
Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.verizon.net
Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465  Why is this important?
Your Verizon Online user name
Your Verizon Online password
Make sure "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is checked

So I've entered the following;

  Sender email address      hidden@verizon.com
  Recipient email address   hidden@verizon.com
  Server address               smtp.verizon.net
  User name                     Correct Username
  Password                       Correct Password
  Port                               465

I get "Test Error" with these settings.

If I go into my email account settings it shows the following info;

Account Type   POP3
Incoming mail server   "incoming.verizon.net
Outgoing mail server (SMTP)  "outgoing.verizon.net

"My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" Set to " Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

My Email password is 20 characters long so not sure if this is an issue.

I've tried everything I can think of but can not get this to work.
This is a deal killer too. The product is of no use to me if email notification doesn't work and I'll just return it to the store.

Thanks for any help in advance.

What Mfr and model is the ISP modem?
Are there any external routers connected to the ISP modem?

Is your password very secure?
Try one without special characters. Even your user name. Just use text.
