Title: DIR-655 saving problem
Post by: perels on June 15, 2009, 02:21:51 AM
Hi Guys,

We just bough a DIR-655, A4, rev. 1.21EU box. The latest firmware we can download at the Danish website is 1.21EU (horribly old compared firmware available at ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/).

VOIP is not working correctly so we are trying to do both port forwarding and turn off ALG SIP, but the router will not save settings. We have tried to turn off the box, reset to default etc. but saving still does not works, so I believe this is an error in the firmware.
We have tried upgrading to 1.31, but the router will not accept this firmware...

Suggestions anyone?

Not being able to upgrade might indicate an issue with the device. Have you tried setting it to factory defaults and reflashing 1.21? If that does not work I would suggest to ask for an RMA.

Thanks for your answer :-)

I read somewhere that firmware from the US-site might brick the box, so perhaps I should not try anyways? I have tried setting the factory defaults, but have not reflashed it again with the 1.21.

Try reflashing if resetting to factory defaults and configuring manually does not help.

EU or NA version really doesn't matter, I'm from Europe and have update solely with NA (US) version without problem.
