Title: Just got the 655
Post by: Crimson01 on June 15, 2009, 05:48:16 AM
It's been great so far, running 1.21. Have 2 questions...

#1 For some reason the router is blocking my outlook email thru comcast. Any suggestions?

#2 I added my DISH reciever and the router is also blocking all inbound and outbound comms. Verified this by temporarily putting it in the DMZ, and it worked.

Can anybody explain how to resolve these 2 issues?

Thanks... running XP

Try changing the firewall settings on the DIR

Specifically which setting? I set it to endpoint independent, no change, and putting the dish in DMZ fixes it, but I don't want it unprotected.

is upnp enabled? you may have to find out what ports are being used and manually open them up in the port forwarding rules. ITs the only reason why it works in dmz and not behind the firewall.

UPNP is enabled. I just read something in the manual about adjusting the MTU, which I will try when I get home.

From the manual...
If you are having a problem sending or receiving email, or connecting to secure sites such as eBay, banking sites, and Hotmail, we suggest lowering the MTU in increments of ten (Ex. 1492, 1482, 1472, etc).

If your connection is PPOE, it should be 1492.

Set the NAT endpoint filter to endpoint independent.
