Title: Switching day to night and back causing false motion and sound detection alarms
Post by: Rimshot on July 02, 2014, 06:15:54 AM
Looks like it's been a while for any new posts in the old thread that touched upon this issue, here so here's my input in a new thread dealing with this one problem.   Running latest firmware on new 5020L just purchased.  After reading old motion detection thread, I'm using MPEG video,  60hz, sensitivity set to 5%, small subset of blue squares chosen for motion and getting very few false alarms EXCEPT the switch over from day mode to night mode and back the other way.  Tolerable but:

D-link, if you are listening, I have to believe your technology allows you to know when these events happen and to filter them out of the triggering logic to prevent these false alarms, right ???????

I know it's not much consolation, but none of the D-Link Cloud camera models exclude day/night transitions from motion detection triggering.

Yea, understood, but it doesn't seem like rocket science for D-Link to address this issue, especially if it's just a SW programming fix.  Perhaps it's not as high a priority as other needed fixes....

D-Link is aware of this request, as I believe it's on the firmware wishlist for each camera in this forum. . . I'm right there with you and would really like to see this functionality as well.  ;)

Here we are nearly 1.5 years later and I am here trying to find a solution to the same problem.
It would be a very easy software fix.  The same software that decides to switch the camera lights on/off also decides if it saw or heard a trigger. D'oh.
D-Link could even have a switch in the settings to acknowledge or ignore perceived light switching if people don't want to take a chance on an alarm not being false.
As it is now the motion/sound detection is all but useless to me.  I receive dozens of false alarms.

Does setting any sensibility features to 0% help any?

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

A few more months have passed and the issue is still current. I just bought a new camera DCS 2330L and still have the same issue. I updated the firmware to the newest version 1.12.
I also think it would be helpful to be able to specify how many % of the detection area should be measured at one time. Let's say on a rainy day with sunny parts. The light can change quite quickly in a very short time. This should be excluded. This could be done by saying that I want the picture to be detected only if part of the selected area is changed.
Other than the detection: I really like this camera. Was an easy setup and easy integration to my Synology NAS with its own Surveillance software.
DLink Team: Any news on this?

Does this version of FW do the same thing? http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64191.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64191.0)

What is the sensitivity set for?

I'm on F/W 1.01.

Please use internet explorer, and go to the motion detection option.

Clicking on the image will enable the areas you want selected.  They will turn into red boxes.  Click again to turn off.
