Title: can a dir-615 be setup to route to another router?
Post by: bushyiii on July 07, 2014, 05:14:40 PM
I live in a solid masonry house with a lot of metal in the walls.  Wireless connectivity is sketchy is some areas of the house.  My ISP has installed a cable modem/wifi router and I thought maybe I could use my Dlink to wirelessly connect to the cable router to acquire an IP Address and then extend the wireless range to the problem areas.  I realize that that the dlink will have to have an internal and external IP but don't know how to configure it.

Am I all wet or is this possible?

I cannot run cat5 or I would use the dlink as an access point.

The only option is to run LAN cable to the 615 and use it as a wired AP:
Turning a router into an AP. (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0)

Bridging is not supported on this model router.

OK that's what I needed to know.  Is there a Dlink consumer model that supports bridging?

Bridge Mode vs Relay vs Access Point (AP) / Routers vs Dedicated Acess Points (AP) (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50738.0)
