Title: Placing camera outside the house
Post by: stribor on August 05, 2014, 07:50:01 PM
Is it safe to put this camera outside the house? Did anyone used it outside at all?

Thanks

The DCS-5020L is not designed for outdoor use (i.e. protection against humidity, water, extreme temperature variation). Using this model outdoors would be at your own risk.

Where do you live? The world is a pretty big place with varying conditions that might work in one area but not another.

I agree with JL though.

There's a YouTube video showing extreme rain conditions on a dlink cube camera with a garden hose I believe.

I would also be more concerned about placing the DCS-5020L outdoors because of the pan/tilt motor and exposed seams in the case used for rotation, as opposed to other models that are 100% solid state circuitry with no moving parts (except for the magnetic IR cutfilter for Day/Night cameras).
