Title: 2332l Firmware updates?
Post by: tfsecurecam on August 07, 2014, 02:54:01 PM
The 2332L security update has been "Pending Release" since January 2014 per the following post:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58241.0

I'm hopeful that an update will fix me having to reboot the camera weekly.

This camera has been discontinued.  I'm skeptical we'll ever see another firmware release from D-Link.

D-Link really ought to be ashamed.  They ship these things with beta-quality software and never really update it to something stable before they abandon the product.

yup it was replaced with 2330 with a  new feature but also down in resolution. Why dlink would replace the 2332l with another camera without even updating the firmware on this one.

I was really hoping for a fw update on this camera too.  Haven't had it that long and I hate the fact that you have to authenticate to get the snapshot URL.

Odd.  Over in the 2330L forum (the 2330 being the camera that replaced the 2332) there is a thread about new firmware for that camera, also posted to the .ca support site.  I wonder why D-Link isn't posting this stuff to the .com support site?  Are these global firmware updates or not?

Don't know either. The dcs-2332L only have one version/revision right? I'm tempted to try this firmware. Maybe next week..

I think this update will bring the option to see SD VIDEOS on mydlink lite

Yes, only one version of the camera that I know of.

The release notes say that the only change is "fix Mac webGUI display issue".

I'm exploring new options.

- Schedule reboot  8)

- Audio lost encoding option.

- In H264 mode, is saving to MP4 instead of AVI

All right, I'll give it a shot, too.

fousa -- where are you located?  US?

Edit:  I gave it a try on one of my 2332's and it didn't work.  Camera chews on it for a while, and then comes back still on 1.01.04.   >:(

Edit x2:  My bad!  Javascript blocker was preventing the firmware upload.  It works!  This update is worth it for the mp4 encoding alone.  Now saved recordings can be ready by mobile devices natively.  Awesome.

- There is an option to save to MPEG4. Was it there before?
(http://s1.postimg.org/nsh7mfuh7/2014_08_18_19h00_26.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/nsh7mfuh7/)

- More Constant Bit Rate options

The MPEG4 encoding option was there previously.  The bit rate options look the same to me, before vs. after.  The scheduled reboot is a nice add -- that was in the newer 2330L firmware so I'm glad D-Link evened the two cameras up there.  In fact, the only difference I see now between the two models is that the 2330L can trigger actions from audio detection.

Still testing.

Potential really good news, and potential disappointing news.

The disappointing news is that the mp4's appear to be nonstandard in some way.  My Macs won't play them natively (in fact, the video helper service on my Mountain Lion Mac blows up when I just browse to the folder containing the files).  Fortunately VLC, which I was using anyway for the avi files the old firmware saved, still works.  So this change is a net negative.

On the possibly very good news side, it appears you can now configure video motion with browsers besides IE!  That's huge.  The only downside I see to it at the moment is that once you select a square in a non-IE browser, there does not seem to be a way to de-select it.  So you have to get it all right at one go, or erase the whole thing and start again.

Would appreciate validation of these points if anyone else is in a position to test them.

I've decided to roll the update back to 1.01.04 and hope this one comes out of beta at some point in better shape.

Two reasons:

1.  The mp4 problem is a killer.  It would be one thing if the the files were simply unplayable on the Mac natively (without VLC), since that's the position we're in with the avi files on 1.01.04 anyway.  But these mp4 files actively crash a mac video process when you just browse to the folder containing the files, resulting in a succession of error dialog boxes (on Mountain Lion -- Mavericks handles it better, but still can't play the files).  Since I am more likely to be looking at the saved videos on my Mountain Lion Mac, this situation is untenable.

2.  I use a third-party iOS app to monitor my cameras remotely (the D-Link apps have never worked).  That app still mostly works with the new firmware, but one thing that no longer works is being able to hear the camera's mic.  I don't want to give that up, so I can't keep the new update.

At least I know I can throw it on to adjust the motion zones if I want to, and then roll it back with those changes in place.

Divx player?  Is that pc only?

Sorry, I'm not a macky. Just throwing out a suggestion

Thanks.  Plenty of ways to play the files (I use VLC), so playing them at all isn't the issue.  It's the crashing that's the annoyance.

Yes -- as I posted above, no need for IE to configure motion, at last.  However, I noticed that (in Safari, anyway) once you activate a square in the grid, there is no way to deactivate it.  You have to click the clear button and start the whole thing over.  Is that what you see in Chrome?

Now, on mydlink lite, when I try to send audio to camera, it says that new firmware is available but don't give version information..

Which app are you using? I currently use JustConnect+ but that has never supported audio. I am looking for a fast app that also does audio. Thx.

JustConnect+ has never worked for me at all.  :)

I use Live Cams Pro (http://"https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/live-cams-pro-multi-ip-camera/id428145132?mt=8") for iOS (App Store link).

Mydlink lite for IOS v3.3.3

My main issues with that app are:

1.  It's a bit flaky (freezes, audio artifacts in audio stream, other random stuff)
2.  If you're not using MyDLink, you can only access your cameras if your device is on the LAN with them
3.  Does not support full resolution for the 2332L

Ya you have to clear and start over in other browsers other than IE. Little annoying but I can live with that.

Can you check the mp4 files this firmware generates?  Do they play natively on your computer for you, or do you have to use VLC or other third-party software to play them?  (And what OS are you on?)

Thanks!

1. Sometimes yes, the audio have some artifacts.
2. You're right. Works for me because I'm using mydlink service.
3. Does support full resolution on DCS-2332L. You have to configure Profile 2. Try this configuration:

Overall I'm satisfied with the app. Lacks only viewing the SD card recordings

After the firmware up if I set motion it does not seem to record anything unless I set 0% under percentage. I used to use 65% sensitivity and 2% percentage but now nothing seems to happen. Anyone else seeing this?

As I posted above, I've rolled back the firmware to the prior version.  But while I was testing this version, I didn't observe what you mention.  However, I didn't adjust the settings I already had in place.  They continued to work properly.

I use other apps with mine online away from home. I just use a dns name or ip and open port on router. For example camera1 i have opened to 90 and camera2 to 91 both fowarded locally to port 80 of each cameras ip.

Hm seems to work somewhat now, water is on the lense and now it likes to record alot. Might just have to play with settings. I redid the settings in IE just in case.

Hi,
my DCS-2332L (located in Germany) guided me to update the firmware (1.03.06) for the first time.
