Title: Question about Firewall | Port 53
Post by: tux_wifi on August 16, 2014, 10:09:21 PM
Hi,

I did a port scan at https://www.grc.com/intro.htm (https://www.grc.com/intro.htm). This was the result. I know the stealth thing is all hype, (drop vs reject) but since all other ports are in stealth mode why is port 53 in closed state ? Is there a way to make it stealth.

Maybe standard practice to have port 53 as closed since it's an authentication port. Why would you need stealth?

Before I took this Internet connected I was using DSL. The router that I was using was DLINK GLB 502C.

I remember running port scan with 502C, all ports were stealth including 53. So I am just curious.

Possible it maybe handled differenctly with the 600L. I'd ask support about if needed. You'll be ok with it closed. It only gets open when the router needs it.

Then don't bother. BTW, I have disabled UPnP.
