Title: DWL-2600 AP all connections consistently being deauthenticated

I just bought two brand-new D-Link DWL-2600APs and have had nothing but trouble.

First of all, was not able to connect to them via their static IP addresses ever.

When I did get one of them on to my network I was able to access the admin settings via the IP addressed assigned to it by our router.

Got it set up with a radius server.  Everything seemed to work fine.  For about half a day.

Since then it drops connections, usually about every few minutes or so.  Then reconnects.  Then drops again.  With Windows and Macs.  I tried it with the second one and have exactly the same problem.  We have some interference in the office here, but not enough to make connections drop like that all the time.

In the event logs, it keeps talking about various "reasons" (reason 4, reason 20, etc.).  Anybody know what those refer to?

Any help would be appreciated.  Have gotten zero help from DLink itself (their phone number is out of service and got no response from my form sent in).

I just bought two brand-new D-Link DWL-2600APs and have had nothing but trouble.

First of all, was not able to connect to them via their static IP addresses ever.

When I did get one of them on to my network I was able to access the admin settings via the IP addressed assigned to it by our router.
I believe you have more than one DWL or same product on the network, then the default static IP adderss will not work, you'll need to connect to the DWL using what the server assigns or input a new static IP address, like 192.168.0.26 and .27 in sequence.

Got it set up with a radius server.  Everything seemed to work fine.  For about half a day.

Since then it drops connections, usually about every few minutes or so.  Then reconnects.  Then drops again.  With Windows and Macs.  I tried it with the second one and have exactly the same problem.  We have some interference in the office here, but not enough to make connections drop like that all the time.

In the event logs, it keeps talking about various "reasons" (reason 4, reason 20, etc.).  Anybody know what those refer to?

Any help would be appreciated.  Have gotten zero help from DLink itself (their phone number is out of service and got no response from my form sent in).

• Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
• What wireless modes are you using?
• 2.4Ghz only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
• Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
• Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channels) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions.
• What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.
• Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/support/metageek-software-archives/) to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

Placement

3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

I already set it to manual channels (tried 11 and 8), problem remained the same.
Tried with WPA-Enterprise (for the Radius server), also set up another VAP with WPA-Personal.  Same problems for both.

Yes, many other wifi routers in the area.  Did a thorough analysis and determined channel 11 was the best channel.  (Really should get a dual-band router, ultimately).

What I haven't done yet is:
physically moved it
changed wireless modes
changed channel width

Will try all those things, but am skeptical they will make a difference.  Very sketchy performance so far.

Try some of the suggestions. Also try with one DWL on line first with out the 2nd. See if you can get one working first...

Any chance you can test one of the DWLs at home or at a different location?

Will do.

Have so far only done this all with one router.  Did the first one and after some testing and luck swapped it out with the second to see if there was something wrong with the first one.  Each has their own separate static IP address and have never been on the network at the same time.
