Title: Use my DIR-817 Router as a camera server?

(Not sure if this is the right thread to post this in) I am thinking of using my DIR-817L router as the server to save my captures to. I have 4 D-link Network cams. I want to use it as a secondary router just for my cams to access and save the captures on a USB drive attached to it. Do you think there will be a problem accessing the cameras and captures remotely? I have an ASUS AC router as my primary router. Can I assign the DIR-817L a static IP address and have the cams access that direcly? Im in the planning stages here and would like any input you might have on this idea.

The DIR may work as a 2ndary wireless AP, however streaming to the USB connected drive may be problematic as the data flow from the cams may be to much for the USB drive. If your doing to capture video streams to a storage location, NAS would be recommended as it can handle large amounts of data streams from cameras.
