Title: URL Blocking how to
Post by: vimfuego on October 18, 2014, 10:05:07 PM
Hi All,

I guess I am missing a step in the whole process. Any URL I am listing as blocked is still accessible.
In the ALG settings I think there was a pre-set for 'http_content_filtering' with the description of 'Configure specific URL blocks', in there I've added as a test IMDB - *.imdb.com/* under URL Filter as a blacklist item.
But of course I can still access www.imdb.com , is there another step I need to do so that any URL listed under 'http_content_filtering' will be blocked?
Thanks.

The secret with URL filters is that they are added to an ALG, which has to be added to a service, which has to be added to the FIRST rule that matches the traffic in question.  Once we have these elements lined up, everything should become easier.

There is a pre built service with a pre built ALG (which I am assuming is the one you edited), so ironically the thing most people miss is a rule allowing (action NAT) the HTTP ALG service placed above the existing all services outbound service.
