Upgraded the firmware to 1.05_b5 and found problems with the wireless extender mode. Camera would not connect wireless to my router unless I turned off extender mode. If I turned on extender mode it stopped connecting to my router. Worked ok wired. FWIW My extender mode issues a different SSID from my main SSID. I had to back out to the prior firmware. Am I the only one with this issue?

Are you using the extender mode on the camera at all or just camera mode only?
Wireless Configurations on main host router

- What wireless modes are you using?
- 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
- 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or AC on 5Ghz?
- Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
- Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channels) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz.
- What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.
- What wireless devices do you have connected?
- Ensure any devices with WiFi adapter drivers are updated.
- Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?
- Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html) to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.
- If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI (http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/30969-what-do-80211ns-optional-features-mean-for-you), WLAN Partition, Extra Wireless Protection and HT 20/40 Co-existence if you have it. Also testing with HT20/40Mhz Co-existence enabled will impact results as well. I prefer to use this option OFF. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

How far away is the camera from the main host router?
-
b/g/n on my router
I need to use the camera as both camera and wireless extender.
I am out in the country and have no neighbors.
No security on my network.
Simple network name
Network extension has a different SSID from my main network.
Everything worked fine with the prior firmware. When I upgraded, it was 12 inches from my router. Would not see my wireless network until I turned off the extender mode. I had to back out the firmware to get it back working wireless.
Am I the only one with this problem?

- What region are you located?
Where did you get v1.05 FW version from?

Where did you get v1.05 FW version from?
Both times from the Dlink site. First time was when I went to view camera it said I needed a FW upgrade so I moved it, plugged it in and let it upgrade. Second time I went to the dlink support site and downloaded it and did it from the camera maintenance page. Hard wired both times. Same results both ways. Backed out to prior version and all works well but everytime I go into the camera it tells me there is an upgrade and I say "later"

What region are you located?
Was the downloaded version from the D-Link USA site or a different region?

I had the same problem. Only by putting off the ext. wifi the led turn green again (it work again)

This is under review by D-Link. If users need immediate help and information, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Ask for level 2 or higher support. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

With the help of Dlink, I finally got everything working. For this FW upgrade (1.05) you MUST do a factory reset AFTER the FW upgrade while still wired to the router. This forced me to re-add my camera in MyDlink with the setup program and re enter all my configuration. Also note that the extender mode works different and did not like that I was assigning an IP address in my router for this camera.
This version of FW is very tricky to install if you use extender mode. More notes on how to install would be helpful from Dlink.

Thanks for sharing your feedback and experiences.
Sounds like users should follow this for doing any FW updates:

Why do you keep sending router FW upgrade stuff to people with cameras?
Make a separate FW Upgrade post for cameras if you like but dont send camera people router stuff. Turns them off (me) and makes it look like you dont understand the question or problem. I know you help a lot of people but you should change this and make a camera FW upgrade notes post.
Thank

Because the update process applies to cameras as well and can be a troubleshooting step as well. "Router" is just a word, the same as "Camera", it's just a word. Don't take it so personally. Doesn't seem to bother others.

This seems to have been my problem too. Cameras were working great, then stopped connecting to the router. Now, I have unchecked "extender" mode and they seem to be working again. Two 931L cameras.

Please give the following a try:

Do a factory reset after the file is sent the set up from scratch...
