Title: Next Firmware?
Post by: Kneo on June 23, 2009, 08:24:21 AM
Do we have any ETA on when we can expect a new firmware to see if any of the problems can be corrected?

We don't have an ETA on next firmware. However PM has all the information they need and there is one in the works as we speak.

So, I'm curious. That thing where Lycan collected our home addresses, will something come of that, or was he just being sociable? :)

Yes, he's sending out a gift basket with various bath soaps, and candles.   :P :P

Let's see how this new firmware pans out first.  I'm sure they want us to test this, to avoid a mass RMA.

I suppose so, although I was sort of counting on the bath soaps.  ::)  ;D

Waiting patiently for the next (hopefully fixed) firmware. :)

Although the thing I really want is a Consumer Router with Native IPv6 support, even if I have to spend a lot for a Commercial Router instead.

I've seriously been thinking of setting up a Rack mount Server in my cellar anyhow seeing as it's much cooler down there, even in the dead of summer. Plus a Rack mount system would save space in our living room, letting me get rid of all the shelves full of equipment and my desk would be much cleaner too without all the wires.

They were out of bath soaps, so I went with scented oils and a small Crackerbarrel cheese assortment.

:)

Funny.

That is not quite true, sometimes I edit a post to make it more offensive!

I thought you found a nice deal on a dozen calla lilies to go with it?

I've had a couple of lockups on my router, for the most part it seems to last 7-10 days before this occurs.

Recently I caught my router before it locked up completely.  I've been playing with rainmeter on my desktop and noticed my TcpOut dropped to 0 for my D-Link facing NIC on one of my devices.  I've been copying a large amount of files around, about 200GB from one computer to another.

I tried to look at the system logs and ended up getting a message saying, trouble retrieving logs, running low on memory.  I have a lot of extraneous logging due to the fact that the D-Link is incapable of understanding that FIOS settop boxes like to broadcast on what it considers unroutable network.  I've tried setting a routing entry for it within the DGL-4500 but it won't let me.

Is there any way to configure the logging for the device to retain less information?  I was under the assumption that turning off INFO only prevents it from being displayed, it doesn't actually change what is being logged.
