Title: Problem setting up on a mac....Please help....
Post by: asamalikum on June 24, 2009, 08:24:35 AM
Hi, i just bought a new NAS (Dlink 323). After hardware set up, i'm suppose to configure the system by accessing the configuration on WEB UI. Therefore i figure out the NAS ip address from the DHCP client list on my router settings. Hence i type in http://192.168.1.35/ (1.35 being the address of NAS) and it keeps on loading and loading, yet nothing comes out. I'm not sure how should i set this up. Please help.

Try using a ping utility in Mac and try to ping the IP address of the DNS-323. Sorry I don't know were this utility is located off hand I don't use Mac all that much.

On your mac, open up the Terminal app (this gives you command line access).  Then ping the NAS:

ping 192.168.1.35

If you get replies, then it is on the network.  If not, then you either have the wrong IP address or something else is wrong.  Good luck.

Try powering the unit down and back on. If that fails try resetting the unit to factory defaults using the reset button on the back. Press and hold for about 5 seconds. You may need a paper clip to press it in.

I already answered your post on the other forum, but, in a nutshell, you either have a networking or browser problem.  Shouldn't have anything to do with it being a Mac.
