Title: Mapping Storage Drive on a DIR-860L
Post by: cayz on November 28, 2014, 04:09:31 PM
Hello.

I have Windows 7 Home 64bit, a DIR-860L A1 FW 1.08, and a Toshiba 2TB USB 3.0 External Drive.
I am only able to map a drive to the windows box using the admin account, something I am not real keen on doing.

I have 3 users in the storage setup - admin, fred, fredhome, all with different levels of password security (easy, hard, hardest), with admin having the most complex.  All three users can log into the hard drive using the SharePort Web Access.

They are all configured to have the same R/W access to the root, but I can only map the drive using the admin account.  I have tried these combinations of user name:
fred
\\192.168.{X.Y}\fred
\\routername\fred
fred@192.168.X.Y
fred@routername

when prompted after typing the map command:
net use \\192.168.X.Y\IPC$ /user: .....

I get prompted for the password, but then I consistently get:
           System error 1326 has occurred.
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Again, if I substitute admin for the username and its password for the password, it works.  I just would rather not be using it.

Yes, X.Y, fred & fredhome are ALIASes for the real names;  I prefer not to give out too many details about my internal network.

The FW is working as designed. The access to the USB drive is reserved to the SharePort Web remote access. For any LAN side access, only admin account information can be used. The use of other accounts on the LAN side is reserved for D-Links NAS products. The use of the SharePort client application maybe used on the LAN side however is based on READ only access.
