Title: Why VCT function is not working?
Post by: milindsmart on November 29, 2014, 01:34:27 AM
MY DIR 605l is A1 hardware version, and for some reason, the VCT function doesn't work at all.... Except for telling me the link is up/down.

This function can be accessed in Maintenance > System Check > More Info. It either says "(T/R)xPairNormal Cable" or "(T/R)xPair Error at meters".

Why doesn't it show the actual number of meters to the fault location?

(I have this requirement at present, a long cable is not achieving the link properly.)

It's been a while and had forgotten, but I hope I can solve it with your help now :)

Firmware version : 1.14
Region : India

ISP service & Modem: Fiber, but what I get is a Cat 3 cable from a fiber-termination box in a nearby building, I've never even seen it. FTTN basically.

Not sure of CAT 3 would be supported on this router. Most routers only support CAT5 and up...could be a possible connection issue or cabling issue.
